Very recently, we have been able to come closer to understanding the specifics of the molecular, physiological and cognitive mechanisms that determine behavior. This master's program is focused on current research. Students will attend lectures taught in English and practice in leading laboratories in Moscow, with which the program supports affiliated courses. It is also possible to contribute to the laboratories of our European partners. Weekdays are filled with practical activities for students and work on master's theses in another career. The program is developed in collaboration with the Higher Normal School of Paris and the Center for Functional Integrative Neurosciences at Aarhus University.

What is cognitive psychology?

Current cognitive psychology is an experimental discipline that studies the mechanisms of functioning of cognitive processes. Our program focuses on the investigation of intelligence, control of emotion and motor performance, the formation of mental representations, the dynamics of information acquisition from memory, learning, cognitive development and cognitive impairment, mechanisms mirkuvannya, mov i vir_shennya zavdan.

What's up with neuroscience?

Cognitive neurosciences are studying the substrate and mechanisms that lie behind such forms of complex behavior as emotions, language, respect, memory, etc. Thus, cognitive neuroscience integrates psychology and neurobiology. The methods used by cognitive neuroscience include experimental paradigms of experimental psychology, neuroscience, neuroimaging studies of the nervous system, and also the incredibly relevant approaches of behavioral genetics. A scientific breakthrough in brain scanning allowed researchers in cognitive neuroscience to monitor the brain in real time using a combination of methods such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), magnetic resonance imaging triencephalography (MEG, EEG) and infrared spectroscope.

Our program is the only English-language master's program in the field of cognitive sciences in Russia. The research pool consists of scientists of the light class, high-blooded descendants of the field of cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, neuroeconomics, and neurolinguistics. Our partner laboratories also have access to a range of neuroimaging techniques, which ensures unique opportunities for the development of a young student’s career.

What am I going to do?

The master's program covers a wide range of disciplines in cognitive psychology and cognitive neuroscience. The research is supported by advanced disciplines from psychology, mathematics and neurobiology. The section of cognitive psychology includes such disciplines as “Zorovaya vaga and priynatya”, “Mind and emotional modulation of cognition”, “Memory, learning and cognitive development”. At the same time, students study branches of cognitive neuroscience, which include “Neuromapping Methods,” “Behavioral Genetics and Neurogenetics,” “Computer Neuroscience,” and “Neurobiology of Decision Making.” An important part of the program is the course on digital signal processing. In addition, students have access to numerical seminars and electives, for example, “Practical course on non-invasive brain stimulation and electroencephalography” or “Computer modeling of cognitive processes.”

The lecture will focus on methods of non-invasive brain stimulation, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS). These methods actively contribute to the current cognitive neuroscience, allowing us to work on the cause-and-hereditary connections between brain areas and their functions.

Methods of non-invasive brain stimulation make it possible to infuse rhythmic activity in young brain tissues (under an electrode) with stimulation on the line for this frequency region, as well as time-to-hour and vice versa. inhibit the activity of this galus. Although the robotic mechanisms of TMS and tACS have not yet been fully developed, tACS studies have revealed the same effect of “rhythm binding”: stimulation of brain zones (or entire circuits) at a similar frequency leads to a change in how physiological and behavioral indicators.
